Discover Membership

We’re excited that you’re interested in becoming part of our family!

Membership is about a commitment between the individual and the church to use our time, talents, and treasures for God’s kingdom.

Transitioning from a regular attender to a member demonstrates your desire to become a committed part of the Cornerstone family. The membership process at Cornerstone is designed to help us get to know each other better.

How Do I Join Cornerstone?

We’re excited that you’re interested in becoming part of our family!

Membership is about a commitment between the individual and the church to use our time, talents, and treasures for God’s kingdom.

Transitioning from a regular attender to a member demonstrates your desire to become a committed part of the Cornerstone family. The membership process at Cornerstone is designed to help us get to know each other better.

Individuals join the CBC family one of three ways:

  1. Believer’s baptism by immersion
  2. Transfer of membership letter from another Southern Baptist church or church of like faith and practice.
  3. Statement of faith (for those already immersion baptized but have no letter to transfer, e.g., from some non-denominational churches).

Membership Process

1

Take a Prospective Members Class

In this class, you will learn about Cornerstone’s beliefs, organization, and ministries. You’ll also discover opportunities to serve, ways to engage with the church, and the benefits of being a member. During the class, you will be able to ask questions about the church and membership.

Classes are offered once each quarter, and you must register to take the class (so that we know you’re coming).

2

Receive Baptism (if needed)

If you have never been immersion baptized as a public profession of your faith in Christ (see our Statement of Faith), you will need to do so in order to become a member of Cornerstone.

Our regular Baptism Sundays occur once each quarter. Please use the button below if you are interested in being baptized.

3

Be Voted In by the Members

At Cornerstone, we follow a congregational polity. That means the current members vote on accepting new individuals as members.  This is pretty standard in Southern Baptist churches.

4

Receive the Right Hand of Fellowship

All those who have been voted in as members will be presented to the church during a special Right Hand of Fellowship Sunday, where the church body will welcome you as a new member of Cornerstone Baptist Church.
